The Milwaukee Brewers have signed veteran infielder Yuniesky Betancourt. He was Milwaukee's regular shortstop in 2011, arriving in the Zach Greinke trade with Kansas City. He appeared in 152 games, hitting .252 with 13 home runs. He was released when the Brewers brought in Alex Gonzalez last year but when Gonzalez got injured, Jean Segura took over. It will Segura to start the season at short but General Manager Doug Melvin likes the fact Betancourt can help out at multiple infield positions. The signing leaves no room for Donnie Murphy who will be released. The Brewers also placed two players on the 15 day disabled list. Taylor Green has a left hip injury and pitcher Mark Rogers has soreness in his right shoulder. The Brewers have two Cactus League games left on the spring training schedule before breaking camp beginning with the Kansas City Royals Wednesday.
