Concerned over the struggles of young pitchers Mark Rogers, Wily Peralta and Mike Fiers late in spring training, the Milwaukee Brewers have signed 34 year old right hander Kyle Lohse to a three year contract worth a reported 33 million dollars. The 12 year veteran is coming off his best season a year ago when he went 16-3 with a 2.86 ERA for the St. Louis Cardinals. Because Lohse is a Type A free agent, the Brewers will also have to give up their first round pick in the June Amateur draft to the Cardinals.
Chris Narveson is the latest pitcher to have a rough outing, getting touched for 8 hits and 6 runs with five walks in three and a third innings in Milwaukee's 9-7 loss to the Oakland A's Monday. Narverson was knocked out of the game by Chris Young's grand slam home run in the 4th. Mitch Haniger drove in two runs for the Brewers and Nori Aoki had two hits as Milwaukee falls to 10-17 in Cactus League play.
