Phoenix women rally falls short

The Green Bay Phoenix women saw it's 24 game winning streak and season come to an end in the opening round of the NCAA Womens tournament, falling to 6th seeded LSU in Baton Rouge, Louisiana 75-71.  The 11th seeded Phoenix jumped to an early lead but the Lady Tigers battled back to lead by seven at intermission.  An 8-0 run to start the second half quickly put Green Bay in a hole, falling behind by as many as 18 before the rally began.   Sarah Eichler scored 22 points, Adrian Ritchie added 16 before fouling out late and Jenny Gilbertson scored a career high 15 as the Phoenix closed to within three twice in the final minutes.  They just never got the game even and finished the year 29-3.  The five member senior class of Eichler, Ritchie, Gilbertson, Lydia Bauer and Stephanie Sension, closed out their careers with the most celebrated four year run of any class, winning 122 of 138 games and reaching the NCAA tournament all four years.
