GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) - A Packers fan favorite is getting a big honor.
The Green Bay city council gave final approval Tuesday night to rename a downtown street after retired wide receiver Donald Driver.
The council approved North Pearl Street in front of Titletown Brewing Co. to be renamed Donald Driver Way.
The owner of Titletown Brewing says he will also redesign the statue of a Packers player in front of his building to resemble number 80.
The city council took fast action on the small section of street, unlike a proposal for renaming a street after Coach Mike McCarthy.
Mayor Jim Schmitt made the announcement after the 2011 Super Bowl win.
Schmitt and McCarthy want the street to be around Lambeau Field. Schmitt says it’s a work in progress, as the desired street runs through three municipalities.
