Badgers fall in Big 10 title game

After battling Ohio State throughout, the Wisconsin Badgers went cold at the worst time and fell to the Buckeyes in the Big Ten tournament championship game at the United Center in Chicago Sunday, 50-43.  Wisconsin managed only one basket over the final six minutes as DeShaun Thomas led Ohio State to its third tournament win in the last four years with 17 points.  Wisconsin was led by Traevon Jackson with 10, the only player in double figures.  Freshman Sam Dekker scored 8.  Wisconsin finishes 23-11 on the year and was looking to beat the third top 10 team in a row after advancing past Michigan and Indiana.  The Badgers still earned at an large bid to the NCAA Tournament and they will be a number five seed in the West Region, opening against SEC Tournament champion Mississippi on Friday in Kansas City.

Marquette, despite its quick exit from the Big East Tournament, received a number three seed in the East Region and they will play Davidson on Thursday in Lexington, Kentucky.
