The Marquette Golden Eagles worked hard to share the regular season Big East championship, draw a number three seed and double bye in the conference tournament but it went for naught as Notre Dame knocked out the Golden Eagles in the Big East quarterfinals 73-65 at Madison Square Garden Thursday night. Marquette jumped out to a 17-4 lead but couldn't hang on. Jamil Wilson led the way with 16 points. Marquette drops to 23-8 but should still receive a favorable seed when the NCAA pairings are announced on Sunday.
