WAUKESHA, WI (WTAQ) - A man has been sentenced for leading police on a chase from the Fox Valley to the Milwaukee area with his girlfriend's children in the car.

19-year-old Tou Thao of Fond du Lac will spend two-and-a-half years in prison for first-degree recklessly endangering safety and OWI with a child under 16 in the vehicle.

As part of a plea deal, Waukesha County prosecutors dropped five other charges.

The incident took place last October. Investigators say Thao attacked his girlfriend. Officials say he then went to Fond du Lac, and took his girlfriend's children from a babysitter. Officials say he then took the children to Menomonee Falls.

The vehicle they were traveling in crashed after being chased by police.
