APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) - Two men are dead after being struck by trains in Appleton and Oshkosh. Just over 12-hours separated their deaths.
Appleton police say a 64-year-old man is dead after he was struck by a train around 1:30 a.m. Monday at Pacific and Durkee.
Authorities say the man was lying on the tracks.
The conductor for the 120-car train spotted him, blew the whistle, but he didn't move. He was dragged about 300 feet.
An investigation is ongoing.
Later in the day, Oshkosh police report a man was dead after a train vs. pedestrian crash that happened around 1:45 p.m. Monday.
Oshkosh Police say the man was dead upon arrival near E. Custer Ave and Broad St.
The name or age of the man is not known yet.
Police are investigating the circumstances into his death and why he was on the tracks.
