LA CROSSE, Wis. (WSAU) - The closing arguments are set for Tuesday morning in a La Crosse double murder trial. Jeffrey Lepsch from Minnesota is accused of killing Paul Petras and his son A.J. at May’s Photo last September 15th. Lepsch is also accused of stealing about seventeen thousand dollars worth of photography equipment after the murders.
During Monday’s proceedings, the defense only called two witnesses... Lepsch’s wife and his mother as character witnesses. One of the prosecution’s witnesses was able to tell the court she bought a camera from Lepsch through Craigs List, and called police when she saw the man she bought the camera from on the television news. That camera had the serial number removed, and was found to have been stolen from May’s Photo.
Prosecutors believe Lepsch’s financial problems and mortgage debt were the motive for the killings and robbery.
