Prosecutors to make case for charging underage alleged killer as adult

SHEBOYGAN, WI (WTAQ) - Prosecutors will tell a judge in Sheboygan Wednesday why a 14-year-old boy should continue to be charged as an adult in the killing of a 78-year-old woman.

Nathan Paape’s attorney is trying to get the youngster moved into juvenile court. He says the teen is more likely to get the psychological treatment he needs in a juvenile institution, than in an adult prison.

Prosecutors said Paape and another 14-year-old killed Barbara Olsen last September at her home in Sheboygan Falls, and then ransacked the home to get money which they used to buy marijuana and pizza.

The other teen, Antonio Barbeau, will continue to have his case in adult court where he has pleaded not guilty by insanity to a homicide charge. Olsen was Barbeau’s great-grandmother.
