MADISON, WI (WTAQ) - In an unusual move, the Wisconsin Assembly passed the proposed two-year state budget without much of a debate. The abrupt vote was 55-42. Minority Democrats did not offer any amendments. Minority Leader Peter Barca says it became clear Republicans were not open to changing the $70 billion spending package. ASHWAUBENON, WI (WTAQ) - Beginning in June, travelers will be able to fly non-stop between Green Bay and Atlanta.

Austin Straubel International Airport has announced that Delta is adding a daily flight to Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.

"This is tremendous news for area travelers," said Austin Straubel International Airport Director Tom Miller. "Atlanta is a major hub; from there you can go pretty much anywhere in the world. It's something area travelers have been asking for."

The flight to Atlanta, starting on June 10th, will depart Green Bay daily at 6 a.m., arriving in Atlanta just after 9 a.m. The return flight will leave Atlanta at 7:05 p.m., and be back in Green Bay at 8:12 p.m.

"This provides plenty of time to make both domestic as well as international connections or to put in a full day of business in Atlanta," says Miller.

A 65-passenger, two-class jet with in-flight Wi-Fi will be used for the flights. Passengers will have a choice of purchasing coach, economy plus or first class tickets.

Brown County Executive Troy Streckenbach says it's a boon to the area for business and tourism.

"While working as a team, we were able to approach that issue," says Streckenbach. "It's a shrinking business for airlines, and we had to make the case that an investment in Brown County's airport is a good investment for them."

Greater Green Bay Convention and Visitors Bureau President Brad Toll added to that statement at a press conference Monday.

"We wanted to make sure Delta understood that this is a growing and vibrant area, that there's a lot of economic development going on and there is demand for additional air service out of Austin Straubel Airport; especially to a major hub like Atlanta," said Toll.
