The Milwaukee Brewers avoided arbitration with center fielder Carlos Gomez, signing the veteran to a one year contract worth a reported 4.3 million dollars on Thursday. The salary is more than double what Gomez received in 2012 when he hit .260 with 19 home runs, 51 runs batted in and 37 stolen bases. It looks like the Brewers will have to go through arbitration hearings with three players and dealing with only 2 cases since 1997. John Axford, Marco Estrada and new relief pitcher Burke Badenhop did not get deals done before today's arbitration deadline.
