SARASOTA, FL (WTAQ) - A second person has died in the crash of a seaplane in Florida last weekend that killed a pilot from Wisconsin.
63-year-old William Jackson of Ann Arbor Michigan died Tuesday from severe burns suffered in the crash.
70-year-old John Ardoyno of Hayward was killed when the crash occurred last Saturday near the Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport.
Officials said the plane failed to gain enough altitude after it took off – and it abruptly crashed about 100 yards from a college campus building.
Federal officials continue to investigate.
Ardoyno was a flight instructor with the International Seawind Pilots Association. According to a business partner, Jackson was an avid flier – and he was thinking about buying the seaplane he was in, so he could fly between Ann Arbor and his cottage in Canada.
