The British beauty was sentenced to five days of community service back in 2007 after she pleaded guilty to assaulting her housekeeper with her cell phone.
She hit the headlines again in 2008 after she was reportedly banned from flying with British Airways due to a scuffle over her lost luggage, only to be dragged into yet another scandal in 2010 after allegedly accepting a diamond from a war criminal, former Liberian president Charles Taylor.
Bogged down by all the negativity in her life, she set out to conquer her fears and complete some of the dreams on her bucket list in 2011 - and Campbell insists she's a changed person thanks to her year off.
She tells Elle magazine, ""(Fashion designer) Alexander McQueen told me to learn to scuba dive. I could barely swim. But he told me how peaceful it was. How tranquil.""
The 42 year old also went gluten-free, learned to ski, picked up horseback riding and spent time in India, cut off from the world, learning yoga.
She explains, ""It's posture, it's muscle tone. It's helped me to calm - I can bring myself in faster than I could before.""
