UNDATED (WSAU) - It just wasn’t a good day to be on the school bus. Two separate incidents involving school buses happened Friday.
Fire caused extensive damage to a Minocqua bus. This happened as the driver was about to begin her morning route at around 6:40 a.m. She noticed smoke in the back of the bus and pulled over just as the fire started. A rear heater is the suspected cause. The driver was not seriously injured, but examined at Ministry Howard Young Medical Center as a precaution.
A different bus was involved in a crash during the morning route in Vernon County near Wheatland. The driver and four students were injured when the bus collided with another vehicle in a church parking lot. Three of the students went to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries. A total of 12 children were on the bus at the time. Visibility was poor due to heavy fog at the time. This crash remains under investigation.
