Britney Spears has now confirmed what everyone pretty much figured out already: she won't return to The X Factor.

In a statement provided to ABC News, the singer says, "I've made the very difficult decision not to return for another season.  I had an incredible time doing the show and I love the other judges and I am so proud of my teens but it's time for me to get back in the studio."

She adds, "Watching them all do their thing up on that stage every week made me miss performing so much!  I can't wait to get back out there and do what I love most."

In addition to music, though, Britney is exploring other career opportunities.  According to published reports , she's switched talent agencies, and will now be represented in future deals by the powerhouse Creative Artists Agency.  Some of the stars CAA represents include Jennifer Aniston , George Clooney , Daniel Craig , Brad Pitt , Meryl Streep , Bradley Cooper , Steven Spielberg , Reese Witherspoon , Scarlett Johansson , Tom Hanks and Jamie Foxx .

Why the need for the high-powered agents?  Deadline.com reports that in addition to working on a brand-new album, Britney is hoping to do a scripted comedy series, since her roles on How I Met Your Mother and Will & Grace were so well-reviewed a few years back.  In addition, Deadline reports that Britney is exploring "a potential Las Vegas residency for a music show."

Britney's album, due out in the spring, has made Entertainment Weekly's list of "12 Albums We Can't Wait For" 2013.
