APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) - A Little Chute man is facing charges after he allegedly hit, tied up and later locked his two-year-old son in a dog kennel.
In Outagamie County Court Monday, 34-year-old Michael Kitzman was charged with one felony count of child abuse.
According to the criminal complaint, the incident happened in late October at Kitzman's home. The court document says Kitzman used a blanket and a pair of pants to tie up his son and left him like that for approximately 45 minutes.
After the boy was untied, Kitzman then allegedly placed the two-year-old into a dog kennel, locked it and pushed it into the bathroom with the lights off and door cracked open for another 45 minutes.
Officers say Kitzman's wife told them this all happened after the boy gave a sibling’s toy football to the dogs.
According to the complaint, Michael Kitzman told police, “I just blew up." He went on to tell officers," I grabbed him and I spanked and spanked for not very long."
In the court document, an officer says he observed a baseball-size light black and blue bruise on the two-year-old's leg.
Kitzman's bond is set at $10,000 cash. He also cannot have contact with the child or any unsupervised contact with anyone under the age of 18.
Kitzman is scheduled to return to court Febraury 11 for his preliminary hearing.
