BARRON, WI (WSAU) - The truck driver that struck an Amish buggy and then fled the scene has been found guilty as part of a plea agreement. 40-year-old Brian J. Holst was driving a turkey truck October 31st of last year when he hit the buggy south of Chetek on highway SS. The impact shattered the horse-drawn vehicle injuring five family members. Felty and Lorene Lambright and their three young girls Amanda, Marilyn, and Luella all survived the crash, but a couple of the family members were hospitalized with serious injuries.
Holst was facing five counts of hit and run causing great bodily harm. He pled guilty Friday on two amended counts with remaining charges dismissed but read in at sentencing. Holst’s bond was revoked, and he remains in the Barron County jail awaiting sentencing April 19th at 2:00 p.m. Judge James Babler ordered a presentence investigation.
