Both the Green Bay Mens and Womens basketball teams used strong finishes to defeat Horizon League rivals on Saturday. In the afternoon, Kiefer Sykes made several big plays and scored a team high 16 points in a 68-62 victory over Detroit. Green Bay rebounded from a tough, double overtime loss to Wright State on Thursday to take down the second place team in the Horizon. Green Bay improves to 13-12 overall and 7-5 in conference play.
The Green Bay women led in-state rival UW Milwaukee by just 2 at halftime but pulled away late for a 64-49 victory, their 14th in a row. Lydia Bauer and Stephanie Sension each scored 14 points for the Phoenix women, now 19-2 overall and still perfect at 9-0 in the Horizon League.
