John Mayer and Katy Perry are two world-famous musicians who are pursued everywhere by the paparazzi. But strangely, John says he doesn't see their relationship as existing in the "celebrity" sphere.
"For the first time in my life, I don't feel like I'm in a celebrity relationship," said John, speaking to CBS Sunday Morning . "I really don't...it's hard to explain. [It] doesn't feel that way to me. And great! I'm glad."
When the interviewer pointed out that Katy is extremely high-profile, like many of his other girlfriends, John said, "I know what you're saying. I'm not denying it. I'm saying that for me it feels like something that's very human."
When asked if one day he might tie the knot, John said, "Of course! I mean, I'm still the kid from Connecticut. That's what you do." Of course, he doesn't say whether or not he'd tie the knot with Katy, specifically.
Also on CBS Sunday Morning, John acknowledged that in the past, he shouldn't have spoken out of turn about his past celebrity relationships in interviews. He suggests that to counteract that, he should've done an interview with Rolling Stone in which he confessed, "I never saw it coming where I would be thought of as an infamous Lothario. I didn't see any of this coming. I'm hugely uncomfortable with it and I wanna cry."
