GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) - Green Bay police have arrested a husband and wife after they returned newly-purchased clothes from Wal-Mart they stole from a victim's home.
Police are recommending charges of burglary and receving stolen property against Matthew and Laura Haen.
The burglary happened Tuesday evening in the 200 block of North Oakland Ave.
The robbers walked in through an unlocked door and stole 32-inch flat screen TV, jewelry and clothes from Wal-Mart that the victim recently purchased.
The homeowner called the store to warn them that the burglars may try to return the items. The married couple did just that; exchanging the clothes for beer and food.
Wal-Mart employees took down the suspects' license plate number, which led police to their front door.
When officers interviewed the suspects, they located the stolen items in the house. They denied involvement in the burglary, but police matched up a pair of boots to footprints found outside the victim's house.
The jewelry has not yet been located.
