TOMAHAWK, Wis. (WSAU) -- The Tomahawk man who became well known in the entertainment world will be laid to rest Saturday. 50-year-old Jay Leggett died right after returning from the woods on the opening day of the gun deer season November 23rd. He had stepped off from an all terrain vehicle and collapsed.

Leggett had played several roles in Hollywood, and went on to become an accomplished actor, writer and director. In the early 1990’s, he was on the comedy series “In Living Color.” Leggett played Gus in “Factory” and Harry Pippen in “Ally McBeal.” He also co wrote the movie “Employee of the Month” which starred Christina Applegate and Matt Dillon. Leggett also produced a documentary film about the deer hunting culture in Wisconsin.

His memorial Mass is at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tomahawk beginning at 11:00 a.m. Family, friends, and the many community members that knew Leggett will be there.
