Once you've been named the sexiest man alive, you'd think the women in your life would look at you a little differently. But Adam Levine says the title bestowed on him last month by People magazine hasn't exactly earned him any points with his fiancée or his parents.
"My fiancée burst into laughter; keeping me humble as usual," the Maroon 5 frontman told Ellen DeGeneres on Thursday's edition of her show, describing the reaction of his bride-to-be, model Behati Prinsloo , on hearing the news. The Voice coach's mom didn't find the news quite so hilarious.
"My mother...asked me very sweetly if that makes her the sexiest mom alive, which is really cute and also kind of weird. And I said, 'I guess so,'" Adam said. And how did his dad react? He laughs, "My father just said, 'You're welcome, son.'"
Adam also admitted to Ellen that, while the "Sexiest Man Alive" and a Victoria's Secret model might make a beautiful couple, the don't exactly keep up appearances around the house.
"We're both super messy. It's really kind of amazing actually. It looks like a tornado hit wherever we hang out," he said, before clarifying that he's not dirty, just messy. "Dirty is gross. Dirty means you're unhygienic and you don't shower. It's gross and you're dirty. Messy is like I don't care that that shirt is on the floor or that my pants are hanging over a couch."
Meanwhile, Adam is still sitting pretty on The Voice as three of his contestants remain in the running for the top spot in the NBC singing competition. The singer said he's grown really close to the remaining members of his team.
"You get really attached, you know?" Levine said about contestants Will Champlin , Tessanne Chin and James Wolpert . "And these three have been so -- I don't know -- different than other seasons. We've just been so connected."
Levine will find out if anyone from his team will move on to the finals next Monday at 8 p.m. Eastern time when The Voice semifinals begin.
