CHICAGO, Wis. (WSAU) -- A Wisconsin based grocery chain is buying eleven of the seventy-two Dominick’s stores that were going to close in the Chicago area. Safeway announced the closings in October. Roundy’s Inc. is going to buy the eleven stores and convert them to operate under the Mariano’s banner.
Roundy’s operates Copps, Pick ‘N Save, Mariano’s, and Roundy’s stores. Roundy’s is paying thirty-six million dollars cash and will assume several leases.
Roundy’s already has thirteen Mariano’s locations in the Chicago area with five more being built.
