Green Bay cop hurt in crash


GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) - A Green Bay police officer is seriously injured following a crash involving a drunk driver.  

The two-vehicle accident happened at 8:49 p.m. Sunday in the 900 block Lombardi Avenue, just west of Ashland Avenue. 

The officer was on break, when she was pulling out of a parking lot and struck by a 25-year-old Green Bay man. Both the officer and the other driver were taken to the hospital.

Police are not releasing the extent of their injuries or their conditions.

Alcohol and speed are considered factors in the crash.

The injured officer has not been identified, but officials say she's an 11-year veteran of the department.

The man involved is facing several charges including 4th offense OWI, OWI causing Great Bodily Harm and 1st degree recklessly endangering safety.
