BARRON, WI (WSAU) - The truck driver that struck an Amish buggy and then fled the scene will go to prison. 40-year-old Brian J. Holst was driving a turkey truck October 31st of last year when he hit the buggy south of Chetek on highway SS. The impact shattered the horse-drawn vehicle injuring five family members.

Judge James Babler gave Holst two consecutive terms of 4 years in prison followed by 6 years of extended supervision, meaning he will be behind bars for the next 8 years. He will also have to complete any and all evaluations, counseling, treatment and recommendations.

Holst was facing five counts of hit and run causing great bodily harm, but pled guilty in a plea agreement on two amended counts with remaining charges dismissed but read in at sentencing.

Buggy occupants Felty and Lorene Lambright and their three young girls Amanda, Marilyn, and Luella all survived the crash.

Holst has indicated he will seek post conviction relief.
