ALLOUEZ, WI (WTAQ) - A Wisconsin Public Service two-year pilot project in Allouez resulted in energy savings that could power 100 homes for an entire year.
The “I Can Conserve” project involved more than 3,000 residents and business in the village.
The goal was to find what incentives people need to change their energy habits. WPS paid over $1.5million in incentives that included home energy reviews, having smart thermostats installed or getting people to change their energy rate. The magic number for savings was $25 a month on their energy bill.
Lynn Kroll is with WPS Community Relations says they will use what they learned to promote energy conservation across their service area.
