MADISON, WI (WTAQ) - It’s not bitter cold in Wisconsin anymore, but state officials say low income families can still get home heating aid if they need it.
The deadline to apply is May 15th at county and tribal social service offices and charities.
Households are eligible if their household income is less than 60 percent of the state’s median income – which is $24,000 for a single person and $46,000 for a family of four.
Qualifying homes can get up to $338 to cover winter heating bills, plus $174 for other electric costs.
The size of people’s energy bills helps determine the amount of aid they’ll get – along with their income levels.
