SHEBOYGAN, WI (WTAQ) - A 76-year-old Sheboygan woman will be sentenced Monday afternoon, after she recently pleaded no contest to killing her baby daughter in 1957.
Because of Ruby Klokow’s age and health issues, prosecutors have recommended a jail sentence of 45 days plus 10 years on probation.
Circuit Judge Angela Sutkiewicz will make the final decision.
Klokow was convicted of killing her nine-month-old daughter Jeaneen 56 years ago. At the time, authorities bought Klokow’s story that the girl rolled off a couch and bumped her head.
But the case was re-opened in 2008, after Klokow’s son James said the death was part of a series of horrific child abuse incidents.
Prosecutors filed a charge of second degree murder – and that’s the charge Klokow was convicted of. Her lawyer says she’s remorseful for her daughter’s death.
