MAPLEWOOD, MN (WTAQ) - A central Wisconsin man says he’ll return to Maplewood Minnesota Tuesday, to continue a search for his missing cousin.
Mike Teige of Elderon headed search efforts during the weekend for 30-year-old Kira Steger Trevino. The Wausau area native has been missing since February 21st from her home in St. Paul, where police said they found evidence a bloody struggle in a bedroom she shared with her husband Jeffrey.
Last Friday, a judge entered not guilty pleas on Jeffrey’s behalf to two counts of second degree murder in Kira’s death.
Teige tells the St. Paul Pioneer Press that he has enough volunteers to resume the Maplewood search Tuesday – but he’s hoping to attract volunteers who have augers or underwater cameras.
Police have recovered a number of items from Keller Lake in Maplewood – but they have not said whether they pertain to the Trevino case.
