The Milwaukee Brewers had a chance to sweep the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium and creep closer to the National League wild card contenders but the Cards salvaged the final game of the weekend 5-4 in 10 innings. Shaun Marcum put the Brewers behind the eight ball early, giving up three runs in the first inning as Matt Holliday and Adrian Beltrae hit home runs. Milwaukee stayed within striking distance and were down to their final out when they finally got even. Norichika Aoki launched a two out, two run homer in the top of the 9th to tie the game. But in the 10th, Allen Craig delivered a walk off RBI single off Kameron Loe to give the Redbirds the victory. The Brewers had a chance to get back to .500 but fall to 69-71, now six games behind the wild card leaders. Ryan Braun had to leave the game with tightness in his wrist and Corey Hart was removed from the game with an ankle injury. Their status is uncertain as the Brewers return home to face another team above them in the playoff chase, the Atlanta Braves. Willy Peralta will open the Miller Park series against Mike Minor on Monday night.
