The Milwaukee Brewers steady climb to the periphery of the National League Wild Card race was slowed by the Miami Marlins Thursday afternoon as they scored a 6-2 victory over the Crew at Marlins Park. Marco Estrada was in trouble from the outset, giving up three runs in the first inning. He would take the loss working five innings, allowing four runs to fall to 2-6 on the year. Meanwhile, the Brewers had only a few quality scoring chances against Marlins starter Josh Johnson who gave up two runs on just four hits through seven innings. Norichika Aoki and Ryan Braun were able to deliver sacrifice flies to pull Milwaukee within 4-2, but Miami tacked on a pair late against the Brewer pen. Milwaukee (67-70) falls 7 games behind in the wild card chase but they still have a say in it, heading to St. Louis to face the Cardinals, one of three teams ahead of them in the standings, for a weekend series that will open with Yovani Gallardo against Kyle Lohse Friday night.
