Brewers hit 5 HR's in 12-8 win over Pirates at Miller Park Sunday

MILWAUKEE (WTAQ) - Ten wins in 13 games has the Milwaukee Brewers at least admitting they’re thinking about playoff possibilities.

Five home runs powered the Brewers to a 12-8 win over fading Pittsburgh Sunday, moving Milwaukee to within six-and-a-half games of a wild card position.

It looked like the team gave up on the season when it traded ace Zack Greinke a few weeks ago.

Sunday’s game saw Ryan Braun pound his National League-leading 37th home run. Also knocking the ball out of the park were starting pitcher Yovani Gallardo, Jeff Bianchi, Rickie Weeks and Carlos Gomez as the Brewers won at Miller Park for the 6th straight time.

The Pirates had 3 homers of their own.

Kameron Loe got his 5th win for Milwaukee when Gallardo failed to make it through five innings. John Axford claimed save number 23.

Braun’s three-run homer in the first went 458 feet. The very next inning Weeks hit a rocket that went 455 feet off starter and loser James McDonald.
