GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) - Green Bay Packers’ receiver Greg Jennings said Thursday he’ll have surgery to repair an abdominal rectus tear in his groin area.
And he expects to return before the end of the season.
Jennings injured the groin during the Packers’ season-opening loss to San Francisco – and he aggravated it on September 30th, after he scored a touchdown in Green Bay’s home win over New Orleans.
He has not played since. Jennings said he hoped the injury would health with rest and rehabilitation. But he knew he needed more aggressive treatment last Sunday, when he felt it tightening up again as he walked off the field in St. Louis.
Wednesday, Jennings saw a specialist in Philadelphia, who will operate on him next Tuesday.
Jennings said he could have received an injection, but he chose surgery because it’s sure way to repair the injured groin.
