When it came time for Madonna's daughter Lourdes, a.k.a. Lola, to get a summer job, she didn't have to look very far: she went to work for her mother. And now, the 16-year-old is blogging about her experience on her Material Girl Collection website.
"This summer I was SURPRISINGLY productive," the teen writes. "So, I thought I would tell you all about the joys of folding underwear. As you probably know this woman I like to call my mother went on tour for her MDNA album. As a summer job I decided to work in the wardrobe department."
Lola goes on to call her job "a little unconventional but still a great experience and a lot of fun." Noting that one of her duties was the "insane" task of helping the dancers change outfits in between numbers, Lola describes having "thirty seconds to totally dress a sweaty dancer" as provoking "mucho anxiety." She adds, "Doing this night after night was pretty cray, but I loved every minute of it!"
She also loved traveling the world with Madonna, choosing Amsterdam, Copenhagen and Turkey as some of her favorite tour stops. "It’s really a great experience to be able to work on a large production, traveling around like a family, setting up for an amazing show and all having the same purpose," she writes. "To be able to be a part of such an inspiring production was one of my best summers so far." Lola's brother Rocco was also on the tour -- he danced onstage most nights with his mom.
Lola signs off by advising fellow teens to choose "hugs not drugs," provides a list of her favorite songs for inspiration, and says her go-to item this school year has been American Apparel's circle scarf. "It’s so versatile -- there are tons of ways you can wear it," says the young fashionista.
