GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) - A former Robinson Metals executive learned his fate Tuesday for stealing $1.27 million from the De Pere-based company.

Ryan Homa was sentenced to 46 months in prison. Federal Judge William Griesbach also put Home on 3 years supervised release after his term is completed, according to Assistant U.S. Attorney William Roach.

Prosecutors say that from December 2007 to September 2011, Homa illegally wrote over 130 checks to a phony business he created. Homa was the controller at Robinson.

Once deposited, Homa used the cash to build a home, buy real estate and other personal use.

The total amount of restitution Homa owed actually totaled $1.76 million. Besides the money stolen, Robinson Metals incurred federal tax penalties, had to hire forensic accountants and lawyers, and had other expenses related to the thefts, Roach said.

Homa has repaid about $430,000. He still owes the company $831,795.26 and also owes an insurance company $500,000.
