The actor adopted a drastic weightloss campaign in order to portray sinewy serial killer Picasso in the movie, and he shaved his head to give the villain a gaunt, evil look - but the big slim down took its toll on Fox's Italian mother.
He explains, ""When I started losing all the weight she would see me - because she lives in the same town - and it was really hard for her. She would gasp and say, 'Oh my God, can I feed you?'
""It was a lot of work. It required five months of not eating the things that I like to eat like not having a glass of wine with dinner, a lot of time at the gym and just real commitment to it and not cheating. When we were done shooting I was emotionally pretty spent.
""We shot a lot of that movie at night so all the demands that I was doing like exercising and the training for the fight sequences plus the emotional machinations that I had to put myself through; I was pretty beat. Those last few days I couldn't wait to get to the end of it and eat some really high carbohydrate foods and go home to my family and slip back into my normal everyday life.
""Eating regularly was fantastic. When I got home my wife is Italian and she's a fantastic cook, so one of the first things she made was a particularly good lasagna. She does the besciamella sauce and layers it with peas and meat. I think it's the best lasagna in the world.""
