Beyonce is an executive producer of what's described as an "intimate, revealing" new documentary about...herself. The feature-length film will premiere February 16 on HBO, and promises to go beyond "Beyonce the artist," and reveal Beyonce behind-the-scenes.
"This film was so personal to me, it had to have the right home," Beyonce says in a statement. "HBO has a history of pushing every boundary with class and authenticity. Some of my favorite shows are on HBO, so I am excited that my film will be part of its bold programming."
The upcoming documentary uses home video to capture Beyonce's beginnings in her hometown, Houston, where she built strong bonds with her family and launched her career. The film also tracks the singer's decision to step out on her own, managing her own career and establishing her own company, Parkwood Entertainment.
Fans will also get a glimpse at the emotional and physical demands of being Beyonce, with cameras following the singer from the recording studio to the stage. In addition, the film captures Bey's return to the spotlight after the birth of her daughter, Blue Ivy .
