MANITOWOC, WI (WTAQ) - It appears that it will not be last call for Manitowoc's iconic beer bottles.

Mayor Justin Nickels says city officials and Riverland Ag have agreed to preserve the large murals on the outside of Riverland Ag's property.

City law required Riverland Ag to remove the murals after it bought the former Anheuser-Busch malting plant in 2011.

"I have received well over 1,100 e-mails in the past 48 hours from citizens, former citizens and visitors encouraging this iconic landmark to remain," Nickels said in a news release.

However, Nickels said in order to stay, the murals must be maintained. He said a fundraising effort would be planned to help pay for upkeep.
