NEENAH, WI (WTAQ) - Authorities in Neenah have fined three teenagers $300 each for detonating homemade explosives.
Police were alerted by residents after the devices commonly known as "The Works Bombs" had been set off.
Cops say these devices are usually made with common household products and when mixed creates a hazardous chemical and eventually an explosion.
Investigators gave information to local retailers, asking them to report any suspicious purchases used to make the devices. Police say one retailer in particular was instrumental in helping identify the two 17-year-olds and one 18-year-old.
No one was hurt and no property was damaged.
