GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) - 30th state Senate district incumbent Dave Hansen hung on to defeat Republican challenger John Macco Tuesday.
The Green Bay Democrat Hansen has served this district for a dozen years.
"We're going to work real hard in the next four years. It's not going to be easy, but it's a special time. The President getting elected, my election, and for all the people that didn't vote for me, I'm going keep working for you too. Keep contacting our office, we'll do all we can," Hansen said during his victory speech.
The businessman and political newcomer Macco says he's proud of the positive campaign he ran.
"I wished him the best of luck, I thanked him for his service," said Macco in his concession speech to supporters. "Obviously, I'm a little disappointed. I was certainly hoping that we could bring three seats to the governor, or at least three. As it turned out though, I think it was a great day for the state of Wisconsin. We moved two seats forward," Macco said.
