MADISON, WI (WTAQ) - Officials from Wisconsin and Minnesota are looking into the possibility of expanding Amtrak passenger rail service from the current level of one trip each day. A feasibility study is expected to be conducted in the next two months, with the two states sharing the cost. Service would be increased between Chicago, Milwaukee and Minneapolis-St. Paul. An earlier plan would have established service between Milwaukee and Madison, then later extending the service to the Twin Cities. Governor Scott Walker shot that idea down when he rejected more than $800 million dollars in federal aid.
