GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) - The Oakland Raiders reportedly plan to hire Green Bay’s Reggie McKenzie as their new general manager.
ESPN says McKenzie is the choice for the job that Raiders’ owner Al Davis held before he died last fall. Raiders’ coach Hue Jackson had been performing the GM’s duties since then.
McKenzie played for the Raiders as a linebacker in the mid-to-late-1980’s. He has been with the Packers since 1994, and is now the team’s director of football operations.
Former Green Bay general manager Ron Wolf hired McKenzie – and Wolf recommended him for the Raiders’ job, calling him a “tremendous evaluator.”
Meanwhile, Packers’ quarterback coach Tom Clements has apparently lost out on the head coaching job at Penn State.
ESPN says New England offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien has agreed to become the replacement for Joe Paterno at Happy Valley.
