GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) - The family of a wheelchair bound Green Bay man learned the fate of the driver that struck and killed their 20-year-old son.  John Kennedy died last January after 39-year-old Mark Sperber hit him and fled the scene.  A tip led investigators to Forestville where they found Sperber where he told authorities he thought he hit a garbage can.  The jury hear testimony that Sperber had three double drinks an hour and half before the accident.  Sperber also went out of his way to make self repairs to his truck.  The victim’s father Jeff Kennedy felt Sperber has been selfish and has showed no remorse.  Brown County Judge Marc Hammer also felt that way before issuing his sentence.  “You pulled around the corner after you think you hit him, and then you made a calculated decision Mr. Sperber, I think that’s what happen, you then looked back and said it’s him or me… and you decided it what going to be you and you drove off and let the boy to die.”  Hammer said.  The judge sentenced Sperber to 20-years in prison, 10 years behind bars and 10 years extended probation where he will not be allowed to drive or drink alcohol.
