Maroon 5's Adam Levine continues to expand his resume beyond "Grammy-winning singer and reality show judge." According to Billboard.biz , he's now started his own record label, called 222, and his first signing is none other than Matthew Morrison , who plays Mr. Schuester on Glee.
Morrison released his debut album last year via Mercury Records; it reached #24 on the Billboard chart and produced the single "Summer Rain." Morrison said in a statement, "I am excited to be working on my next album with such an incredible singer, writer and producer as Adam Levine. Adam and I share the same vision as we begin working on my record together."
For his part, Adam said in a statement, "Starting my own label has been a long-time goal of mine, and I am thrilled to be at the point in my career where it is finally happening. I am excited for everyone to hear Matthew’s forthcoming album. Great things are in store for him with this release.”
As for why the label is called 222, that was the street address of the building where Maroon 5 recorded their first demo, and it's Adam's lucky number. It's also the name of the clothing line that Adam announced in 2010 that he was launching.
