PASADENA, CA (WTAQ) - It won’t be official until the job is posted for two weeks, but observers at the Rose Bowl Friday say it appears Andy Ludwig is new Wisconsin head coach Gary Andersen’s top choice to run the Badger offense next year.
Ludwig has been the offensive coordinator at San Diego State the last two seasons and he watched the team’s Rose Bowl practice Friday.
Andersen told reporters the majority of the new hires should be announced in less than a week. Current staff members retained include running backs coach Thomas Hammock and secondary coach Ben Strickland.
Offensive line coach Bart Miller is hoping to be hired as tight ends coach.
Andersen and Ludwig coached together at Utah for four seasons starting in 2005. They led the Utes to a 13-0 record in 2008.
