RIVER FALLS, WI (WTAQ) - Friday was the deadline for accused killer Aaron Schaffhausen’s defense to officials notify the court of a possible “insanity” plea.
No such notification was given.
Defense attorneys say they haven’t received all the evidence they need to make the determination. Though the judge had set today as the deadline, the defense says it didn’t consider that to be a “hard” deadline.
Schaffhausen is accused of killing his three daughters, aged five, eight and 11, in their home in River Falls in July.
He faces three counts of first-degree intentional homicide and one count of attempted arson. Schaffhausen returns to court for his next hearing January 17th.
