University of Wisconsin Athletic Director Barry Alvarez will indeed coach the Badger football team against Stanford in the Rose Bowl. Brett Bielema stunned the program when he accepted the University of Arkansas job just two days after leading Wisconsin to the resounding Big Ten championship over Nebraska. Alvarez said he had a phone message from Green Bay that he wasn't all that interested in hearing until he played the voice mail and learned it was senior linebacker Mike Taylor calling from his cellphone. Taylor said the team captains got together and wanted to ask Alvarez if he was willing to take over the team. Alvarez, who won three Rose Bowl games as coach, quickly accepted. Alvarez will also continue searching for Bielema's successor. He said Thursday he's been in contact with a couple of candidates and he plans on conducting interviews next week.
