UNDATED (WSAU) A new study suggests that milk from large dairies tends to be cleaner than milk from smaller, family farms. The research was done by professor Steve Ingham at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Ingham now works for the state Ag Department.
All of the dairies studies met safety standards; none of the milk in question was unsafe to drink.
The study looked at bacteria and cell levels that are used to check a cow's overall health. Larger farms scored better than smaller ones.
The study was published in the Journal of Dairy Science.
