GREEN BAY (WSAU) The Green Bay Packers are considering options for expanding Lambeau Field. The team wants to enclose the south end-zone stands, which were left open during the last major renovation.
Options for the project still haven't been finalized. The team says it's considering a combination of enclosed seating, and some enhanced outdoor seating that might include bleachers with seat-backs or more traditional stadium-style chairs.
The team also says the extra seating might be offered for all 10-regular season and pre-season home games, instead of the current green and gold ticket packages. The Packers are asking for input from season ticket-holders before deciding.
The Packers also say any expansion at Lambeau would be self-financed. The last expansion included a one-half-cent stadium district sales tax. Construction would take about two years to complete.
